The head of the Diyala Governorate Contractors Union, Ismail Al-Rubaie, confirmed, on Monday, that companies and contractors will suffer another setback due to a government decision.
Al-Rubaie said in an interview with "Information", "The recent decision of the Ministry of Oil to increase the prices of asphalt and fuel represents a severe blow to the private sector, including contractors and companies, and represents another setback because it has significantly increased the cost of projects."
Al-Rubaie added, “The Union addressed the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Planning regarding the recent decision and its harsh repercussions on the conditions of companies and contractors who contracted projects for paving roads, whether in Diyala or elsewhere,” stressing that “such sudden decisions represent destruction for the private sector because they will lead to high losses in New projects.
He pointed out that "if the prime minister does not respond to our demands regarding the return of fuel prices and asphalt to their previous status, we will have a position," noting that "the companies stopping work is very likely because they cannot bear large material losses due to the increase in material costs." finished/ 25 f
