The Parliamentary Development Institute organized a workshop on the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
The Media Department of the House of Representatives stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that "with the patronage and presence of Al-Zamili, the Parliamentary Development Institute, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program, organized today an introductory workshop on the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the Doha Declaration for Parliamentarians."
Al-Zamili indicated, according to the statement, in his speech during the session held in the Constitutional Hall of the Council, to "the serious work during the current parliamentary session to implement a real project to achieve reform," adding that "the reform project will start from careful monitoring of all the joints of the state, even the smallest administrative unit, and following up on its activities." Diagnose the defect and put in place effective treatments without resorting to the use of defamation methods that were exploited by some deputies during the past sessions to achieve personal and partisan gains.

The UN expert touched on specific definitions of corruption, most notably the exploitation of public authority to achieve private interests and the misuse of the delegated authority, indicating the mechanisms of combating corruption.
The international expert, Hassan, addressed the approach of the international agreement and the purposes of the agreement, which aims to promote and strengthen measures to prevent and combat corruption, support international cooperation, enhance integrity, accountability and sound management of public affairs, noting that bilateral agreements between countries contribute to strengthening the fight against corruption, as well as the need for continuous development in the approved procedures and the amendment of Laws to keep pace with the development of corruption methods.
