    [rtl]On Thursday, Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi called on the Iraqi authorities not to allow its territory to be used to destabilize the security of the Islamic Republic, according to a statement issued by the Iranian presidency .[/rtl]
    [rtl]He accused the leaders of the Kurdistan region of "negligence", stressing that Iran is closely monitoring Israel's movements and will not allow it to endanger the security of the region, through any country, including Iraq .[/rtl]
    [rtl]"Iran strongly expects the neighboring countries in general and Iraq in particular not to allow what would destabilize the security of the Islamic Republic, " he said.[/rtl]
    [rtl]The Iranian president was referring to previous accusations of the presence of elements of the Israeli Mossad in Erbil, and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard had previously announced officially bombing a headquarters in the capital of the region, saying that it was dedicated to Israeli activities hostile to Tehran, but the Kurdish authorities strongly denied these allegations and condemned, along with the federal government, the Iranian aggression against Part of Iraqi territory, and Mustafa Al-Kazemi's government considered it a violation of Iraq's sovereignty .[/rtl]
    [rtl]The Iranian president's comments came Thursday during a meeting in Tehran with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein. The latter responded by saying that his country would not constitute a base for launching actions targeting Iran's security, according to the statement .[/rtl]
    [rtl]"We are ready for broad cooperation, including in the field of security, to prevent any threat to the interests of the Islamic Republic of Iran, " the Iraqi minister said.[/rtl]
    [rtl]In March, Iran launched several missiles targeting Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region, lightly wounding two civilians and destroying part of the headquarters of a well-known Iraqi Kurdish businessman active in the energy field. The Revolutionary Guards confirmed that these missile attacks were carried out under the pretext of targeting a "strategic center" used by Israel .[/rtl]
    [rtl]The Governor of Erbil, Omid Khoshnaw, considered that there was "no basis" for the information regarding Israeli sites in and around Erbil, stressing the absence of Israeli sites in the region .[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]In turn, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the missile attacks and summoned the Iranian ambassador to protest against them .[/rtl]
    [rtl]Fouad Hussein said on Thursday that "Iraq is not only a neighboring country, but also an ally and friend of the Islamic Republic of Iran ."[/rtl]
    [rtl]Iraqi and Turkish officials said later that a nascent plan for the Iraqi Kurdistan region to supply gas to Turkey and Europe with the help of Israel is part of what angered Iran and prompted it to bomb the Kurdish capital, Erbil, with ballistic missiles .[/rtl]
    [rtl]The March 13 attack on Erbil shocked officials across the region for its ferocity, and was a rare public attack by Iran's Revolutionary Guards .[/rtl]
    [rtl]The Iranian revolutionary said at the time that the attack hit Israeli "strategic centers" in Erbil and was in response to an air raid launched by Israel that killed two of its members in Syria .[/rtl]
    [rtl]But the choice of the target puzzled many officials and analysts. Most of the twelve missiles hit the villas of a Kurdish businessman working in the energy sector in the autonomous Kurdistan region .[/rtl]
    [rtl]Iraqi and Turkish officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said they believed the attack was a multi-pronged message to US allies in the region, but that the main motive was a plan to pump Kurdish gas to Turkey and Europe with the participation of Israel .[/rtl]
    [rtl]"There were two meetings recently between energy officials and Israeli and American specialists at the villa to discuss shipping Kurdistan gas to Turkey via a new pipeline," an Iraqi security official said .[/rtl]
    [rtl]A senior Iranian security official told the attack that the attack was "a multi-purpose message to many people and groups. It's up to them how to interpret it. Whatever [Israel] plans, from the energy sector to agriculture, it's not going to come true ."[/rtl]
    [rtl]Two Turkish officials confirmed the existence of recent talks, in which US and Israeli officials participated, to discuss supplying Turkey and Europe with natural gas from Iraq, but they did not reveal their location .[/rtl]
     
    [rtl]The Iraqi security official and a former US official familiar with the plans said that the Kurdish businessman whose house was hit by Iranian missiles, Baz Karim Al-Barzanji, was working on developing a pipeline to export gas .[/rtl]
