, independent MP Hadi Al-Salami revealed the reasons for the demands to withdraw the hand of the director of the General Customs Authority, while noting that the Border Ports Authority took a positive step to reduce the rampant corruption in the joints of institutions linked with it.
Al-Salami said in an interview with "Mawazine News" that "the border crossings have taken a positive step in establishing an electronic platform for their work, in cooperation with the Industrial Development Directorate of the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, the Ministry of Trade and the security and intelligence agencies to monitor work through the electronic platform."
He added that the Customs Authority refused to enter the platform due to corruption and the spread of bribery and graft, so that it refused electronic automation and violated the decision of the Council of Ministers obligating to adopt the electronic platform and did not apply the laws.
He pointed out, "He sent a letter to demand the withdrawal of the hand of the Director General of Customs for failing to implement Cabinet Resolution No. 106 of 2018, which obligates the relevant government agencies to adopt electronic documents in their transactions related to commercial exchange at border ports and to archive these transactions according to an electronic system and within a specified time limit."
