. Al-Shammari said in an interview with “The Information” that “the military operation of the Turkish forces in Iraqi Kurdistan is tantamount to a new invasion and is a blatant interference that must be condemned and denounced.”
Al-Shammari added, “Many of the Iraqi political forces adopt a policy of double standards in dealing with the issues of the country,” criticizing “the silence of most of them about the new Turkish invasion, but the situation would have been different if the process had been conducted by other countries.”
He pointed out that “the 3 goals of the Turkish military operation in Iraqi Kurdistan are to devour more lands, spread more forces and establish bases, in addition to imposing a fait accompli policy in a long-term military presence under the pretext of fighting the Kurdistan Workers’ Party.”
Al-Shammari explained, "What is happening has the final goal of restoring the Ottoman hopes of deducting parts of Iraqi lands, and here lies the danger that must be taken into account."
