Al-Halbousi: Parliament will continue to legislate a food security law with the support of political forces
Shafaq News/ The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, confirmed on Tuesday that the parliament is proceeding with legislation to support food security in the country to face the repercussions of the global food crisis and the high prices of commodities and basic necessities of life in local markets.
Al-Halbousi said in a speech he delivered at the central celebration marking the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the "Badr" organization, that "the road to the state has not been reached so far, despite the sacrifices made and the precious and precious sacrifice and spirit in this field (..) We must work to stabilize the pillars of the state and strengthen its institutions. And to be a protector for all the Iraqi people, with all its components.”
He added that "the most important challenges we are going through are the current international crisis and its impact on food and economic security, while at the same time zeroing crises for neighboring and regional countries, and Iraq must be ready to solve problems and open its doors to those countries, and here it needs a political decision, completion of constitutional dues, and regular work in the House of Representatives." .
Al-Halbousi went on to say: The House of Representatives supports the emergency food security bill regardless of the objections and the system of this project emanating from the political forces to address the food crisis, stop the rise in food prices, provide the necessary allocations to farmers, provide energy and the file of reconstruction.
