    Economy News - Baghdad
On Thursday, Member of Parliament, Representative Muhammad Rasoul Al-Rumaithi, affirmed that Parliament is seeking to reconsider the salaries of employees in ministries and institutions in order to do justice to those with low salaries, while submitting a proposal to reduce real estate prices and rents.
Al-Rumaithi said in a statement, "The House of Representatives seeks to reconsider the salaries of employees in ministries and institutions in order to achieve justice and fairness," noting that "there are low salaries and they must be reconsidered in a way that parallels the rise in oil and market prices."
He added, "The government should invest the current budget surplus and the financial abundance achieved due to the rise in global oil prices by providing job grades for graduates and job opportunities for the unemployed through the 2022 budget," noting that "the next government will not be able to proceed like its predecessors by opening appointments only. If they make real reforms."
With regard to the file of rents and the housing crisis, Al-Rumaithi affirmed that "the House of Representatives is able to legislate a law to unify rent allowances and provide justice to the tenant and the lessor at the same time," noting that "many of the legislated laws are not applied because of the executive authorities, which is one of the obstacles in implementing legal procedures."
He pointed out that "the rise in real estate prices and rent in the country is caused by the lack of a law that deals with them, which burdens the citizen," proposing "relying on investment in ready-made construction and housing projects to reduce real estate prices and rents."
