A member of the State of Law coalition, Ahmed al-Sufi, demanded today, Friday, that the government and parliament ask the President of the Kurdistan region about his position on the Turkish bombing, especially after the latter’s visit to Ankara two days before the start of the Turkish military operation in northern Iraq.
Al-Sufi said in an interview with Eth News, "The fact that some politicians are silent, or not many, but rather many politicians, are against the Turkish attacks, which are not the first of their kind, and this makes us look with suspicion at what they are doing or what these politicians are doing," noting that "Some politicians have common interests with Turkish companies or with Turkey, and some of them have property in Turkey or investments in it, and this is the reason for their silence on the Turkish attacks that have been blatantly repeated."
He added, "Yesterday the citizens were martyred, and before that they were martyred by the Turkish bombing. The Iraqi government did not issue any condemnation or denunciation, as if it were in one valley, and what is happening in northern Iraq is in another valley altogether," noting that "the Turkish bombing took place two days after the visit of the President of the Kurdistan Region to Turkey, as if it were He gave the green light for that."
Al-Sufi stressed that “the Iraqi government and parliament should discuss and inquire or find a formula for an inquiry from the president of the region about his position on this bombing, why this bombing took place two days after his visit, and why the Turkish army entered Iraq,” noting that “this means The operation was being prepared for a while, and this preparation was during the presence of the region’s president there.”
He believed that "what is happening and what happened raises suspicion and raises eyebrows the silence and the silence of the graves that politicians go through regarding the Turkish attacks, something that has become incomprehensible, at least from our point of view, who believe that we are patriots or care about the security of Iraq and the interest of Iraq."
Turkey announced earlier last week the launch of a military operation aimed at hunting down PKK militants inside Iraqi territory.
