, a coalition for the people announced, today, Sunday, that it had submitted a request to hold a session to elect the president of the republic, while threatening the absent deputies.
The head of the coalition, Alaa Al-Rikabi, said during a press conference that "the representatives of the Alliance for the People are keen to attend all sessions of the House of Representatives and abide by the constitutional instructions."
He added, "As a result of the current political blockage and lack of respect for the Constitution and the decisions of the Federal Court, the coalition presented an initiative that includes collecting signatures to hold a session on Saturday, the seventh of next May, to elect the President of the Republic, come up with a political solution, complete the parliamentary committees, and approve the budget law," calling on all MPs to " attend session".
He continued, "The deputies have sworn to abide by the constitutional duty, and that the coalition will file a lawsuit against the representatives who obstruct the convening of parliament sessions," noting that "in the event of failure to hold the session, the coalition will follow the legal and constitutional methods by dissolving the current parliament and calling for early elections."
