Earth News/ The Ministry of Water Resources revealed today, Sunday, the function of the four new dams.
An advisor to the Minister of Water Resources, Aoun Diab, told "Earth News" that "three of these dams were included in the strategic study of water and land in Iraq, but their function is only for the purposes of generating electric power, not for storage and other purposes," noting that "the fourth dam is a small dam and water harvesting is not It has no effect on water imports in the south.”
Diab stressed, "It is not possible to establish any dam or construction related to water resources, contrary to what was stated in the strategic study. Even if these dams are for the purpose of generating electric power, they have no negative impact."
Diab indicated that there is a proposal to establish special dams to generate energy throughout Iraq, nine of them in the Kurdistan region, and the remaining 11 dams on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
