, a representative from Sinjar, Mahma Khalil, confirmed, on Tuesday, that the Iraqi army controls the security initiative in the district.
Khalil indicated in an exclusive interview with Mawazine News Agency, that there is no incursion or presence of any foreign or Turkish force in Sinjar, noting that the Iraqi army is the only force in the judiciary.
He added, that the main tasks of the security forces are to maintain and impose security, and to respect the prestige of the state and the law towards those who break it.
The Turkish newspaper, "Star", reported, earlier today, Tuesday, that the Turkish forces intend to advance 50-60 km deep into Iraqi territory as part of its operation, "Lock the Claw" against the Kurdistan Workers' Party.
The newspaper said that after the completion of the main tasks of the operation, the Turkish army does not plan to leave northern Iraq completely, but rather intends to deploy temporary bases to control the region and will not withdraw from Iraqi territory before "the threats are completely removed."
In turn, the Turkish newspaper, "Al-Sabah", indicated that the number of PKK fighters in the Qandil region was about 3,000 before the start of the Turkish operation, according to the data of the Turkish army. Ended 29/R77
