    Today, Tuesday, the economic expert, Nabil Al-Ali, confirmed that Iraq has failed to conduct fruitful negotiations with the upstream countries, especially Turkey, on the water file, while the Iraqi government lacks the establishment of a modern strategy in the agricultural field.

    Al-Ali said in an interview with the "Information" agency, "The Iraqi government's steps in ensuring food security are limited and lack the establishment of an agricultural strategy that adopts modern agricultural techniques, especially with financial abundance that enables it to build and implement large programs."
    He added, "The strategy may include conducting serious negotiations with upstream countries, benefiting as much as possible from the current water reality, adopting sprinkler or drip agriculture, benefiting from groundwater reserves and ensuring that this water is not overused."
    Al-Ali continued, "The water stress indicator warns that Iraq will be free of rivers in the year 2040," noting that "the features of drought may appear and appear on the country after approximately three years."
    The economic expert explained that "the Iraqi government failed to conduct fruitful negotiations with Turkey on the water file," noting that "Iraq is still using traditional irrigation methods that contribute to the irregular and unfair distribution of water, in addition to waste and waste.
