Erbil (Kurdistan 24) - Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani said today, Wednesday, May 11, 2022, that the illegal organizations have not been removed from Sinjar, while calling on the federal government to draft a gas and oil law.
Masrour Barzani's statements came, during a press conference held in Erbil, to shed light on the latest developments regarding the relationship with the federal government and the general economic and political conditions in the region, as well as the recent developments in Iraq and the region, in addition to talking about other important files.
Masrour Barzani said that the organizations whose existence is illegal (in reference to the Kurdistan Workers Party) are still present in Sinjar and have even increased their numbers and brought in other elements from Syria, pointing out that it is difficult in this case to implement the terms of the Sinjar Agreement and the return of the people to their homes.
On the other hand, the head of the regional government demanded the federal government to enact a law on gas and oil, stressing at the same time that the existence of an oil law in the region is a constitutional matter, noting that the decision issued by the Federal Court regarding the law is a political and illegal decision, pointing out that The parties want to increase pressure on the region through this law.
Masrour Barzani added: "We are in constant contact with the federal government regarding the gas and oil files to reach appropriate solutions to all outstanding problems."
He expressed his astonishment at the federal government's statements regarding the regional government's lack of response with regard to settling the energy file, and we have answered them in accordance with the law and the constitution with the aim of reaching a solution that is in the interest of all of Iraq.
Regarding filing a lawsuit with the Federal Court regarding the unconstitutionality of sending 200 billion dinars per month, President Masrour Barzani said, "We do not know who filed this lawsuit, stressing that the rights of the people of Kurdistan were approved by the constitution and the draft public financial budget law."
Masrour Barzani stressed that the constitutional rights of the people of the Kurdistan Region should be respected, noting at the same time that implementing the articles of the Iraqi constitution is in the interest of all Iraqis.
The Prime Minister referred to the invalidity of the allegations by some parties that accuse Kurdistan of taking more than its rights, and said: The share of the Kurdistan Region was 17 percent, then they reduced it to 13.6, not out of the total Iraqi imports, but after deducting the sovereign expenses, which amounted to 45 percent of Iraqi imports.
He continued, "The Iraqis should know that we did not ask for more than our rights, on the contrary, what we receive is much less than our right."
He added, "Iraq is a rich country with many wealth. If we assume that the people of the Kurdistan Region have received their rights, did the rest of the Iraqis receive their rights? Did the citizens of Anbar take away their rights? Did the citizens of Samawa take their rights? The problem is not with us."
On the other hand, Masrour Barzani confirmed the invalidity of the Iranian allegations, pointing out that the missile bombing of Erbil was a crime against the region, stressing that "the allegations are baseless and there is no single evidence for them.
