The Senior Vice President for Politics, Economics, and Regulatory Affairs at the American Petroleum Institute, Frank Makirola, said that the NOPEC bill threatens the stability of energy markets.

Makirola revealed, according to "Sky News [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]The American Petroleum Institute opposes the NOPEC bill, adding that the United States has "become more able to produce its own resources here at home."

He continued, "Therefore, there is no reason to cause turmoil in global oil markets by passing this legislation. What we need is stability in global energy markets."

He noted that the NOPEC bill "will take us back."

"The United States needs to focus on policies that increase domestic oil production and provide greater certainty to the market and domestic producers," Macirola said.

And he added, "The infrastructure needed to transfer energy from the places where it is produced to the places we need it should also be produced."

The Senior Vice President for Politics, Economics, and Regulatory Affairs at the American Petroleum Institute concluded his speech by saying that "we have to work to provide a low-cost environment to be able to do all of this."

And last week, a US Senate committee approved a bill "No to Oil Production and Export Blocs", known by the acronym "NOPEC".

The law, if approved, could allow for the filing of lawsuits against oil producers in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its allies, alleging the increase in oil prices.
