Extension considers Al-Halbousi's decision regarding Khashan "arbitrary and legitimizing to silence mouths"
Shafaq News/ The "Extension" movement commented on Wednesday, Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi's decision to remove MP Basem Khashan from parliamentary committees, usually an "arbitrary and legitimizing" decision to muzzle mouths.
The movement said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency, that it "condemns the decision of the Speaker of the House of Representatives for Representative Bassem Khashan, and considers it an arbitrary decision that is not based on the law and legitimizes exclusion and muzzling."
She added, "If there was any legal violation issued by Representative Khashan, it would have been better to deal with it according to the law and the internal system of the House of Representatives," calling on the parliament to "reconsider this decision out of respect for the legal contexts that should take precedence over all other considerations."
Al-Halbousi said during the parliament session that was held today, "The deputy, Basem Khashan, is not added to any parliamentary committee, and he is not allowed any intervention unless he submits a written apology to the Presidency of the House of Representatives."
On Saturday (May 7), the independent representative, Basem Khashan, accused the Iraqi parliament speaker, Muhammad al-Halbousi, of committing "financial crimes" and violating the constitution, calling on the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, to dismiss him based on documents he possesses.
