Health Minister Hani Al-Aqabi talked about giant projects and new hospitals that will enter service, while revealing a plan to eliminate thalassemia.
Al-Uqabi said in a television statement, which was monitored by (Al-Mada), that "the ministry has ongoing projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Planning, and they have been put on the tracks and are running regularly."
He pointed out that "these projects include giant hospitals, including one in Basra and another in Maysan, each of which has 500 beds, in addition to Al-Kut, Dujail and Al-Dur hospitals, and others in Anbar."
And Al-Uqabi said, "The work in the Ministry of Health comes to treat cancer cases, and the number of diagnoses has increased."
He stated, "Citizens sometimes notice an increase in the number of cancerous infections, but the truth is that what happened is an increase in diagnosis and techniques have increased."
Al-Uqabi pointed out that “the life of a cancer patient is prolonged due to the increase in medical technologies,” and he talked about “giant projects regarding cancerous diseases in Baghdad, Diwaniyah, Anbar, Salah al-Din and Nineveh.” And he indicated, "The designs for those centers have expired, and some of them have been announced," stressing that "there is a strategic plan to eliminate thalassemia."
Al-Aqabi stressed, "The suffering of this disease is great in addition to the material costs, while preventing it is very simple through a medical examination for those who are about to marry." Al-Uqabi concluded, “The ministry, in cooperation with the popular clinics, has developed a special program, which will be implemented at the end of the month by examining those who are about to get married, and it will be linked with the court in which the marriage contract takes place.”
