    Earth News/ Today, Tuesday, Iraq promised the Iranian government to urgently pay gas supply debts, while Iran offered its services to solve the problem of desertification.
    A statement by the Ministry of Electricity, received by Earth News, said, "The Minister of Electricity, Engineer Adel Karim, received at the ministry's headquarters in the capital, Baghdad, the new Iranian ambassador to Iraq," noting that "the two sides discussed several important axes, including the rehabilitation of gas fields, and dues for the supplied gas, and expanding technical contracts between the two countries.
    The statement added that "the Iranian ambassador showed great interest in the performance of the national system and the obstacles to its work," stressing that "in Iran we have multiple experiences about desertification and sand dunes, and we can deal with this problem to solve it."
    The ambassador continued, according to the statement, "Since the beginning of my work as ambassador to Iraq, I was keen to meet with the Minister of Electricity to discuss the energy file, as the presidential directives stipulated interest in serving Iraq, and we were happily watching the signing of joint contracts between the two countries, and our embassy will be working with you on all energy-related issues, including Maintaining transformers and working seriously in all that you ascribe.
    For his part, the Minister of Electricity referred to "the existing need for Iranian gas, and the need to fulfill the obligations stipulated in the contracts concluded between the two parties."
    Regarding the payment of dues for the supplied gas, “the minister thanked the neighbor Iran for understanding the difficulties of the current situation that the ministry is going through,” stressing that “this will push us more carefully to return the required sums sooner
