Oil prices rose on Wednesday, supported by tight supplies and expectations of increased demand, with the start of the summer travel season in the United States, the largest consumer of crude.

By 0619 GMT, Brent crude futures for July delivery rose 44 cents, or 0.4 percent, to $114 a barrel. Brent crude futures rose 0.1 percent on Tuesday, recording a fifth-day increase.

West Texas Intermediate crude futures for July delivery also rose 51 cents, or 0.5 percent, to $110.28 a barrel. The contract was settled down 52 cents on Tuesday.

Global crude supplies continue to decline as buyers avoid oil coming from Russia, the second largest global exporter, in light of the sanctions imposed on Moscow after its invasion of Russia.[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
