    The Legal Committee in the House of Representatives announced, on Saturday, that it is in the process of making amendments to the General Retirement Law to serve the segment of employees, while it indicated the most prominent features of those amendments.
    Committee member Aref Al-Hamami said in an interview that "the committee is in the process of making amendments to the general retirement law to serve the employee segment," noting that "the most prominent amendments is to specify a period of service and a certain age. The employee is entitled to request retirement upon completion of one of them."
    Al-Hamami added, "The law is still subject to discussions and opinions of blocs and experts in this field."
    Regarding the Social Security Law, Al-Hamami explained that "there are extensive discussions for the maturity of this law, as it is one of the laws that is not controversial and is not subject to political consensus, in addition to that it affects the life of the citizen," noting that "the committee is working on making this law flexible and attractive and accommodate the number." Large number of graduates to motivate them to work in the private sector instead of the public, which cannot absorb all graduates.
    Al-Hamami indicated that "the committee insisted that the administration and routine of this law include facilities for the citizen and the private sector, as well as the few fees that the worker can pay to ensure retirement at the end of his service and targets all social classes," noting that "the committee will rely in this law on Similar studies and laws in some countries to review them and get a very good result.”
    And the House of Representatives voted in 2019 on the first amendment to the Unified Retirement Law No. (9) of 2014, which stated in its amendment that the employee must be referred to retirement in one of the two cases, first upon completing (60) sixty years of age, which is the legal age for retirement regardless Secondly, if the official medical committee decides that he is unfit for service.
