The President of the Republic, Dr. Barham Salih, received today, Monday, June 6, 2022, at the Peace Palace in Baghdad, the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Sameh Shoukry and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Ayman Safadi.
The President of the Republic affirmed Iraq’s keenness to strengthen relations with Egypt and Jordan in various fields, and expand them through mutual understandings and agreed frameworks of cooperation, in the political, security and economic fields, and to coordinate positions in order to establish security and stability in the region, pointing out that Iraq’s security, stability and geographical location among its neighbors And his brothers is an indispensable component of the security of the region.
He added that there is an urgent need to reduce tensions, defuse crises in the region, and rely on dialogue in resolving outstanding issues in order to pave the way towards regional cooperation frameworks based on economic and commercial cooperation to meet the common challenges of security, the economy and the climate change crisis.
The two ministers conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and King Abdullah II to the President of the Republic, while the President of the Republic conveyed the two ministers his greetings to his brother President El-Sisi and his brother King Abdullah II. The two ministers affirmed their countries' keenness on the security and stability of Iraq and the strengthening of joint cooperation.
