According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, received by Shafak News Agency, the minister congratulated the formation of the French government, and they also discussed the progress of bilateral relations between Iraq and France, the development that has been achieved during the last period, and the international efforts in support of Iraq.
The Minister stressed that the Iraqi-French relations are progressing in a distinguished manner, and that joint cooperation in politics, security, combating terrorism, and diplomatic communication have a significant impact in promoting common interests and facing risks, expressing Iraq's thanks and appreciation for France's supportive stances in international military forums. and humanitarian aid in the war against the terrorist gangs of ISIS, in addition to helping to return Iraqi antiquities.”
He explained, "Iraq today has ended the war against ISIS terrorists, and started the construction phase, the reconstruction of Iraqi cities, and the return of families to their areas of residence, adding: Iraq looks forward to the continuation of friendly countries to support it, contribute to investment, and provide expertise in the field of infrastructure."
The two sides also discussed the efforts of the Iraqi government in launching policies to address the effects of climate change, and the current plans for economic reform.
In turn, the head of the Senate delegation expressed the importance of developing Iraqi-French relations under the current Iraqi government, pointing to the priority of investing the momentum launched by the Baghdad Conference for Partnership and Cooperation, and the need to build on and expand its decisions, stressing France's support for cooperation with Iraq in addressing the effects of climate change, praising the direction The government in making reform decisions in the Iraqi economy.
