Al-Halbousi is suing a TV channel, a journalist, and the politician Mishaan al-Jubouri
Shafaq News/ The Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Muhammad al-Halbousi, decided, on Wednesday, to file a criminal complaint against each of the Al-Taghier satellite channel, the journalist Najm al-Rubaie, and the Iraqi politician Mishaan al-Jubouri, on charges of fabricating statements that incite "sectarian strife", which they transmitted on the first lips.
Mishaan al-Jubouri had mentioned in an interview hosted by the media star Najm al-Rubaie on the Al-Taghier TV screen, quoting al-Halbousi as saying that "the opportunity for (Sunni Arabs in Iraq) to fight the Shiites among themselves."
Al-Jubouri also accused Al-Halbousi of working to collect funds from abroad to arm the Sunni Arabs in exchange for the Shiite factions, and that he aims to provoke these factions to strike Sunni areas in order to find a justification for arming.
The representative of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, according to the criminal case appended to his signature and addressed to the Karkh/First Investigation Court, described the statements issued by al-Jubouri as “a dangerous, false and baseless accusation (..) that stirs sectarian strife without support or evidence.”
