The Ministry of Migration and Displacement in the federal government confirmed that it does not have a database of the numbers of Iraqi refugees abroad.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry, Karim Al-Nouri, said that "there is a committee that includes the Ministry of Immigration and the Ministry of Interior represented by the Directorate of Passports and Nationality that is concerned with granting the displaced their required documents, as well as following up the file of refugees outside Iraq," noting that "the ministry does not have accurate statistics, but their number is large, and there is no A database of the numbers of refugees outside Iraq.
He pointed out that "the ministry is ready, and has tents for emergency cases such as drought," noting that "in the event of any emergency situation, the ministry has previous experience in dealing with any emergency, especially since there is cooperation by others in emergency situations."
Al-Nouri added, "The camps for the displaced are draining huge sums of money in terms of relief, shelter and grants, which have reached difficult numbers," noting that "the ministry is working as possible with the budget delay."
Al-Nouri explained, "The refusal to return the displaced, for reasons including clan conflicts, is a problem that the ministry has suffered, but thanks to the reconciliation initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Immigration, many of them were persuaded to reconcile, and there was a response, especially for families who do not have security or criminal files."
