Yesterday, Saturday, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO” expected that Iraq will double its wheat imports by 100% during 2022-2023.
In a table published by the organization, the organization stated, "It is expected that Iraq's imports of the wheat crop will reach three million tons, compared to 2022-2021, in which it imported 1.5 million tons, and imported 2.5 million tons during
2020-2021.” She added, "It is also expected that Iraq's production of wheat during the current season 2022 will reach four million tons, after its production for the last season was 4.2 million tons, and also 4.2 million tons for the year 2020."
She pointed out, "It is also expected that Iraq will not import any amount of the barley crop this year, as was the case in previous years."
And she added, "The production of the barley crop for the current year 2022 in Iraq will reach 500,000 tons, after it was 300,000 tons in 2021, while its production in the year 2020 reached about 1.2 million tons."
