The Iraqi Central Weightlifting Federation announced that member of the Federation, Muhammad Hassan Jalloud, had won the presidency of the International Weightlifting Federation.
Thus, he will be the first Iraqi and Arab to obtain this position.
The Iraqi Federation stated, in a statement, that the news agency had seen a copy of it, today, Sunday, that "Muhammad Hassan Jalloud, a member of the Iraqi Central Weightlifting Federation, won the presidency of the International Federation of the Game, during the elections that took place in the Albanian capital Tirana."
Jalloud worked in the International Federation for 26 years, including the last five years as Secretary-General, at a time when the International Federation has experienced a difficult period since 2020, when the German TV network ARD exposed the doping crisis in it, and this was reinforced The allegations follow an investigation in 2021 by Canadian sports law specialist Richard McClaren and one of three members of WADA, the independent commission mandated by the World Anti-Doping Agency to investigate doping allegations.
