The Ministry of Commerce announced, on Monday, its intention to issue an electronic ration card, to confront redundancy and eliminate red tape.
Director of the General Company for Grain Trade, Mohamed Hannoun, said that “the company is discussing the mechanisms for issuing the electronic ration card in coordination with the National Company for Information Technology, as it is likely to rely on the eye print for the purpose of preventing repetition and corruption operations, eliminating routine, preventing fraud and card manipulation, as well as identifying its vocabulary.
Hannoun added, "The electronic card project was agreed upon with the World Food Program years ago, as it is characterized by its ability to identify those covered by the ration card through governmental procedures, and therefore measures were taken between the General Company for Grain Trade, the Planning Department and the Ministry of the Administration Department."
He added, "This project represents a government program that has received the attention of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, the Ministry of Planning and food companies, and is a step in the right direction to achieve it." “.
