A special session was held in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, to discuss a national strategy to prevent genocide. In the presence and participation of a number of judges, academics and civil activists.
The strategy that was previously launched in Baghdad on the 16th of this month by a group of organizations, most notably the International Yazidi Foundation Against Genocide (Geneva), the Masarat Foundation in Baghdad, the UNESCO Chair to Combat Genocide in the Islamic World at the University of Baghdad, and the Organization of the Inquisitor for the Rule of Law in Erbil took place at the headquarters of Arwaq Baghdad Center for Public Policy.
As for the second session in Erbil, it was at the headquarters of the Muhaqiq Organization. The session in Erbil aimed at presenting and discussions of experts and stakeholders on setting the strategy and employing the participation of the actors in formulating visions and strategies with developmental, media, cultural, security, social and legal dimensions within the general framework of the axes of establishing and laying the foundation stone for the strategy.
The first intervention presented the international dimensions in the national strategy to combat genocide and the reasons for its launch by Mr. Hasso Hormi, President of the International Yazidi Foundation Against Genocide, which holds an advisory position at the United Nations. The second intervention was entitled: The National Strategy to Combat Genocide: Cultural, Media, and Educational Dimensions, which was separated by Dr. Saad Salloum, Professor of Political Science at Al-Mustansiriya University, and General Coordinator of the Masarat Foundation, while the third axis was on the legal, judicial and legislative dimensions of the national strategy to combat genocide by Dr. Ahmed Miran, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Investigator Organization for the Rule of Law

It is worth noting that the national strategy to prevent genocide in Iraq was launched in Baghdad in the middle of this month by a group of organizations with the aim of raising awareness of the dangers of hate speech, discrimination and violence leading to mass murder.
