On May 24, 2022, the World Bank revealed in a report that more than 90% of Iraqi students do not understand what they read.
On 25/5/2022, the Ministry of Education responded to the report and said that the World Bank does not have any powers to assess the educational situation in Iraq.
On 6/6/2022, the Special Representative of the World Bank Mission in Iraq submitted his official apology to the Ministry of Education in general and to the educational and teaching bodies in particular for what was mentioned in the report during his meeting with the Minister of Education, who said that the report was based on the evaluation of second-grade students And the third primary for adolescent schools in accelerated education, not for regular students.
As for accelerated education, it is a project that was supported by UNICEF at its expense, which prepared a special curriculum for these schools, authored and printed it. And Al-Sabah newspaper, in issue 2889, dated 6/8/2013, published an article on it entitled “Accelerated Education… A Treatment for the Phenomenon of Student Dropout.” And based on what was stated in the subject, I inferred some of the negative aspects that characterize the education system in the Ministry of Education, and it was published in Al-Sabah newspaper No. 2894 on 17/8/2013 under the title “Indications from the Accelerated Education Project” and it stated:
Al-Sabah newspaper published in issue 2889 on 08/06/2013 an article entitled “Accelerated Education… A Treatment for the Phenomenon of Student Dropout,” in which it stated that accelerated education is a project for students who have dropped out of primary schools, shortening them the primary stage of regular education by three years and an average of three hours. daily to take into account the work of some of them in self-employment. And that students in the final stage of accelerated education take the exams with the same questions as the ministerial exams for the primary stage of regular education. And that the accelerated education project was supported by UNICEF, at its expense, which prepared a special curriculum for these schools and wrote and printed it. It was also mentioned in the subject that some of the students of the project, during the past years, were among the top ten final results on Iraq for the primary stage.
Accordingly, and according to what was stated in the subject that the result of the three-year curriculum for acceleration schools is the same as the result of the six-year curriculum for regular schools, there is more than one indication in this:
    * The current curriculum of regular primary education is flabby by three years, and it constitutes a loss of three years of the student's life and a useless burden on him, and it also constitutes financial loss and psychological pressure on the student's guardian for three years without return.
    * The accelerated education curriculum and those who authored it are efficient, and the regular education curriculum and those who author it are not efficient.
    * The excuse made by some that the frequent holidays and short hours of regular double schools are the reason for the low educational level of regular school students is incorrect.
Based on these positive indications in favor of the accelerated education curriculum, and as long as the regular education and accelerated education systems grant the same certificate for primary studies, it leads to a proposal to allow regular students who do not drop out the freedom to choose between attending regular schools or working in accelerated schools, as The student who will join the accelerated schools will save three years of his life that he would have spent in vain effort, and the student's guardian will also save three years of financial expenses and psychological pressure without return. Such students who do not drop out will achieve better results under the accelerated education curriculum than those who have dropped out because they are not connected to work while studying, as is the case with the dropout students who attended accelerated schools.
As for the intention of the Ministry of Education to develop the accelerator school curricula, it is better for the Ministry of Education not to do so as long as the three-year curriculum with three hours of daily work gave results similar to the results of the six-year curriculum with five hours of daily work. Rather, the Ministry of Education should work to develop the curriculum of regular education schools so that its outcome is double that of the current curriculum, worthy of the six years that the student spends studying, or the Ministry of Education should shorten the study period in regular education schools to three years that adopt the accelerated education schools curriculum.
