Oil prices fell, today, Wednesday, after rising in the previous three sessions, but losses were limited due to the view that global supply scarcity will continue as there is limited scope for major producers such as Saudi Arabia to boost production.

US West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell 51 cents, or 0.46%, to $111.25 a barrel at 04:37 GMT, giving up earlier gains.

Brent crude futures for August fell 79 cents, or 0.67%, to $117.19 a barrel, also reversing earlier gains.

Both Brent and West Texas Intermediate rose more than 2% on Tuesday as concerns about tight global supply outweighed fears that demand could slow in a future recession. An agreement by the Group of Seven economic nations to explore ways to reduce the price of Russian oil also boosted market sentiment.
