I had intended to dedicate today's column to talk about the International Day of Nelson Mandela, the man who spent half his life in a solitary cell. Those close to him expected that his release from prison would mean that the moment of revenge had come, but he did not achieve their goal. He called on everyone to forget the past, stressing that: The right person is the one who does not repeat the mistake of the injustice that he struggled to raise.
Talking about Mandela these days and we live in a political comedy in which the interests of the country and the people have stopped, because our politicians believe that the chair is their right for life, is like talking about a dream that a person lived in a narrow cell and when he was released he worked hard to preserve a cohesive country in all its colors, except that The bone-breaking battle that is taking place in the corridors of Iraqi politics and the deep sleep practiced by the parliament, prompts us writers to ask whether our parliament represents the Iraqis, and if it is an elected Iraqi parliament, why does it not interrupt its vacation and return to discussing the crisis the country is going through.. Some will say, man, you. Like the one who gives the call to prayer in Malta, do you think that deputies who receive astronomical salaries, privileges, armored vehicles, and contractors, can discuss crucial issues concerning the stability of the country, if it were about privileges, you would have found them standing since the morning in front of the council's gate.
Mandela is a sign of tolerance and forgiveness in a world that tends to intolerance, prejudice and racism. His positions were a symbol of this future when he formed his first government of the oppressed and the oppressors.
Tolerance and forgiveness require a belief that ideas, like things, change and change. As for intolerance and the inability to forgive, they are evidence of intolerance and inertia. Because of Mandela who popularized the concept of tolerance, South Africa today is the most important and most stable and successful country in the continent.
I hope our politicians will look at the picture of the old man smiling and learn that politics is the art of preserving people, not the art of manipulating people's destiny.
At a certain historical stage, some politicians and rulers turn into mirrors that spontaneously reflect on us a picture of the major transformations that are taking place around us.. Yesterday the world remembered the African leader Nelson Mandela, the old man who lived and died, and he is a guarantee for all the population of all colors, which the Secretary-General of the United Nations describes as “the giant of our time.” A leader of unparalleled courage and great achievement; and a man of quiet dignity and profound humanity."
Unfortunately, Parliament fills our lives with lies and clowning statements, and in daily naivety it tries to divert attention from the billions of dinars enjoyed by the "pretends" of politics.
