On Thursday evening, the presidencies, leaders of the Iraqi political forces, parties and national blocs and their representatives held a meeting at the government palace in Baghdad, at the invitation of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi; To discuss the latest security situation imposed by the Turkish aggression on Iraqi lands in the Dohuk Governorate in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq; Which led to the death and injury of a number of Iraqi citizens, mostly women and children.
The Prime Minister reviewed the details of the political and field situation and their developments, the details of the recent Turkish attack, the government's follow-up to the families of the martyrs and the wounded, and the measures taken at different levels. To defend Iraqi sovereignty and the security, political and diplomatic steps taken by the government, as well as the complaint that Iraq will submit to the UN Security Council and the United Nations, and the nature of the international position in condemning the attack.
The attendees affirmed the unity of the Iraqi national position in protecting the sovereignty of Iraq and the lives of Iraqis, and condemning the Turkish aggression, as well as supporting the procedures for international complaints.
The conferees reiterated Iraq's respect for the principles of good neighborliness, and the prevention of aggression against the lands of neighboring countries from its lands, and Iraq's refusal to be an arena for settling accounts between illegal armed groups and the Turkish army, or exporting internal crises to others, or assaulting its rights, sovereignty and the security of its people.
The meeting stressed the coherence of the political and popular stance towards the challenges, and called on the government to take all necessary measures and steps to protect Iraq's security and sovereignty, and prevent the recurrence of attacks.
