    On Thursday, the Ministry of Communications announced an agreement with 3 international companies to increase Internet capacities in Iraq, while setting a condition for reducing subscription prices.
    The director of media and relations at the ministry, Adel Al-Araji, said, "The ministry is determined to increase the Internet's capacity by 1,800 kilos, through 3 companies that have been agreed with, namely, the European Nokia, the Chinese Huawei, and the Canadian Sina."
    He added, "The mechanism for increasing the capacities of the Internet service will be through devices that carry these capacities through the optical cable connecting the devices and exchanges for the areas where the service is located," according to the official news agency.
    He continued, "The higher the capacity ratio, the greater the stability of the network, and when a cut occurs in one place, a continuation occurs from another place," noting that "the capacity will be on the national network of the General Telecommunications Company."
    He pointed out that "the subscription prices for the Internet service do not have any increase, but it is a 20 percent tax that was added by the government in the budget law in 2016. The reduction requires cancellation by the government, and then the subscription price will decrease by 20 percent."
