    The Ministry of Agriculture warned, on Thursday, that agricultural production would be affected in the event that bulldozing operations continue, while calling on the concerned authorities to expedite finding solutions.
    The technical representative of the ministry, Mithaq Abdul-Hussein, told the official news agency, "The abuses on agricultural lands began since 2003, especially those located within cities or their outskirts," noting that "with the exacerbation of the problem of the lack of housing units and the progression of years, the problem of bulldozing has worsened."     Abdel-Hussein explained, “The ownership of agricultural land belongs to the Ministry of Finance and not to the Ministry of Agriculture, as changing the land’s gender from agricultural to residential does not belong to the Ministry of Agriculture,” noting that “there is a committee in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers studying the reality of all the lands that have been occupied.” dwelling."
    He pointed out that "the governorates are currently responsible for preserving agricultural lands that are being bulldozed or encroached upon, and holding the violators accountable."
    He stressed, "The loss of agricultural land is a loss of green breathing space for cities, and it also means the loss of arable land and its impact on agricultural production," calling on the competent authorities to "accelerate the provision of solutions to provide housing to cut off the road for some of those who trade in the need of citizens."
