Iran: We monitor developments in Iraq closely and do not interfere in its internal affairs
Commenting on the developments of events in Iraq, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said, "Iraq is a large and important neighbor country for us, and we follow up and monitor developments in it carefully and sensitively."
He added that "the Islamic Republic believes that the security of Iraq is one of its security, and that the Iraqi political parties and currents are able to overcome the crisis by following peaceful and legal methods."
And he said, "We used to and still respect the Iraqi people's choice and do not interfere in their internal affairs, but we believe that dialogue is the best way to resolve differences," stressing, "We are confident that the Iraqi people are conscious and mature and will overcome this period with their grace and wisdom."
He also said, "We respect the decision of the Iraqi people and believe that dialogue is the best way to settle problems," stressing that "the Iraqis are conscious and mature and will overcome the crisis wisely."
