    Monday, 25 August, 2014

BAGHDAD / NINA / Foreign Minister, a member of Kurdish negotiation team, Hoshyar Zebari said the team began its meetings with the political blocs in Baghdad.

The website of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) quoted Zebari as saying today: that the Kurdish delegation met with the forces of the National Alliance, and stressed the need to implement the demands made by the Kurdish delegation and the need to participate in government of Haider al-Abadi. ”

He explained that “the Kurdish delegation asked the political parties to determine mechanisms and timeframe for implementation of the demands of the Kurds.”

He stressed that “the delegation demanded guarantees from the National Alliance and the Shiite religious authorities and even the United Nations and new Prime Minister, Haider Abadi to implement the demands of the Kurdistan region.”

He noted that ” the delegation will hold a press conference at the 6:30 pm today to highlight the latest results of its talks in Baghdad with political parties on forming the next federal government.

Zebari refused to confirm or deny that ” the Kurds and the National Alliance had reached an agreement on forming a government, stressing that the delegation will speak at the conference on the results of its meetings and dialogues in Baghdad. / End
