    Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail said, on Wednesday, that the ministry and the National Oil Company have paid "great attention" to providing material and logistical support to the people of Basra Governorate through quality service projects, implemented in the health, educational, infrastructure and service sectors, with allocations from the Social Benefits Fund or From the allocations of the ministry and oil companies.
    According to a statement by the Ministry of Oil, "This came during his meeting with (Minister of Oil) Deputy from Basra Governorate Ali Shaddad Al-Faris, and during the meeting, they discussed increasing and expanding the contributions of the National Oil Company to social benefit projects, and caring for people with cancer and chronic diseases in the Zubair district and the surrounding areas, As well as activating investment projects in Basra to provide job opportunities for the people of the province.
    He pointed out that "the Ministry and the National Oil Company are keen to provide job opportunities for the people of the province in the projects implemented by the contracting and secondary companies in the oil sector, where the rates of involvement of the people of the province in those projects amounted to more than 70%."
    In the social services sector, the Minister of Oil emphasized,There are great contributions in the health sector in the governorate, where financial support has been provided to the governorate’s hospitals, especially those specialized in treating people with cancer. A large financial support has been allocated to the Children’s Hospital, in addition to its rehabilitation, development and equipping with modern medical devices and supplies. The Basra Oil Company, in cooperation with the Italian Eni Company, accepted, in addition to providing an early cancer screening device (Beta Scan) to Al-Sadr Teaching Hospital, as well as the continuous support of the Cardiac Hospital by the National Oil Company, which was established by the Basra Oil Company and handed over to the Governorate Health Department, As well as providing support to Al-Zubair Hospital and providing it with medical devices and supplies, and in the time of the Corona pandemic, the sports city hotels in Basra were rehabilitated to receive patients with Covid 19, as well as providing medical devices and supplies to a number of clinics and hospitals in the districts of the governorate.
    The Minister of Oil continued, "The ministry has also implemented a number of service projects in the water and infrastructure sector, as the ministry completed maintenance work for the pumps of the Al-Baradi'yah water station in 2018, and the Zubair Field Operating Authority is currently installing two desalination plants in Al-Baradi'yah, with a capacity of 400 cubic meters, through social benefits allocations. An hour for each of them, and their opening will be announced soon, in addition to dozens of projects to rehabilitate schools and roads in the districts of Siba, Qurna, Al-Sadiq, and others. The province through the sub-committees of the Central Committee to support the security forces and community initiatives.
