    Today, Thursday, the Ministry of Commerce announced its readiness to complete two new food baskets, and while it identified the origins of importing its materials, it indicated a tendency to increase its vocabulary.
    The assistant general manager of the General Company for Foodstuff Trade, one of the formations of the Ministry of Trade, Talib Abbas Hassan, said that "the company has started preparing the seventh food basket and has prepared the stores while preparing to prepare the eighth basket," noting that "the citizen saw a big difference between the ration quota and the food basket from Where the processing and quality of materials despite the crisis that the world and neighboring countries are going through.
    He added, "One of the most important goals of the food basket, which is the most important item of the Ministry of Commerce, is to maintain the internal economic market," noting that "the food basket materials currently fill the needs of the citizen and he only needs a little to buy, and this affects negatively and positively on the local market, and the impact has become clear and significant. on the Iraqi citizen.
    Speaking about the follow-up to market prices, Abbas Hassan explained that "the supervisory agencies of the Ministry of Trade and the Food Trade and Commercial Control Company, as well as the security agencies that are concerned with this matter such as the National Security Agency and the Economic Police, are conducting continuous follow-up on food prices in Iraqi markets in general and in all governorates, especially in Periods of religious occasions," noting that "on such occasions, there is a shortage of some materials due to withdrawals, but the ministry has taken all measures and measures in this regard to control the market and fill the shortage."
    Regarding the quality inspection of foodstuffs, the Assistant Director-General of the General Company for Foodstuff Trade stated that “the examination of materials is carried out in the central laboratory, which contains international examination devices from solid brands, as well as continuous coordination with the committees of the Ministry of Health in this regard,” explaining that “all materials are subject to The specifications of the Standardization and Quality Control System approved by the Ministry of Planning in coordination with the Ministry of Health, and we are part of this system, in addition to the fact that the laboratories of the Ministry are part of this system and are subject to the instructions of the Standardization and Quality Control System and the Ministry of Planning, Health and Coordination is public and joint.
    He continued, "The import of food basket materials from international origins is from Canada, Turkey and Thailand. As for sugar and oil, their production is local," noting that "most of the legumes come from Kazakhstan and Turkey, which are well-known for their production and the quality of their crops and the materials they manufacture and export."
    He pointed out that "the company's warehouses are complete and sufficient to store foodstuffs," explaining that "in the event of an increase in materials, a plan has been drawn up to establish new stores to accommodate the materials, taking into account that there will be emergency storage for a period of 3 months," stressing that "these procedures will take place. direct it within the future plans of the budget.
