    Economy News _ Baghdad
The Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Water and Marshlands revealed, on Sunday, its intention to submit a request to the caretaker head of government to directly intervene in the water file, while warning of the effects of drought affecting the central and southern governorates, noting that Iraq is in a "quick death" stage.
The head of the committee, Thaer Mikheif Al Kitab, said in an interview seen by “Economy News”, that “the paralysis that afflicted the House of Representatives during the past period prevented the committee from carrying out its work during the last stage, and was limited to some private or media activities, while the committee did not issue any correspondence.” to internationalize the water file after it had intended to do so.
Al-Kitab added, "There is a silence applied by the government, parliament, and sectoral stakeholders regarding what is happening to Iraq from its neighboring countries, despite its danger," attributing this to "the allegiances of the political blocs to this or that country at the expense of the interest of the Iraqi people."
He stressed, "The committee is in the process of forming a grouping of some politicians, experts and farmers to visit the Prime Minister and ask him for personal intervention and to visit Turkey and Iran to negotiate the water file." As happened in Turkey after linking this file to the President of the Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Al-Kitab warned that "Iraq is going through a phase (a quick death) due to the scarcity of water, which reached the areas of the middle Euphrates after it invaded the southern region, which led to a mass migration to the city, which is no longer able to bear more unemployed people arriving there."
