    The Minister of Electricity, Adel Karim, discussed, on Tuesday, with the Turkish ambassador to Iraq, Ali Riza Konai, prospects of cooperation and joint work between the two countries in the field of energy .
    A statement by the Ministry of Electricity stated that, "During his meeting with the Turkish ambassador in Baghdad, the minister raised vital issues, the first of which concerns what has been completed from the Iraqi-Turkish electrical interconnection project, and its importance in the stability of the electrical system, as well as its benefit to the northern regions, and the two parties reviewed the increased demand for gas and the energy market and work on Establishing major renewable and solar energy projects .
    The minister pointed out that "the ministry has proceeded in several directions for electrical interconnection projects and has been keen to diversify it, as the linkage with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as well as the Gulf linkage project, which enjoys great government interest and support ."
    He explained that "the ministry's plan aims to raise the general production ceiling and complete the first licensing round, which included a capacity of 7,500 megawatts with major international companies, and we were keen to distribute it to all governorates in proportion to the pregnancy centers ."
    "The ministry intends to transfer 5,000 new megawatts next year, " he stressed.
    The meeting discussed "an important issue, which is the (Turkish Charlek) company, which aims to work on the establishment of the Al-Khayrat Investment Station and the need for funding for it. "
    For his part, the ambassador spoke about "the solar energy projects, reviewing his country's solid companies in this field and their similar works, and the utmost personal attention to the file of companies operating in Iraq," noting that "a list of all companies involved in developing the energy sector will be prepared and provided to the ministry ."
    The Minister also instructed the Technical Department to "prepare a list of all projects that fall within the ministry's five-year plan (five years) with medium and long terms and present it to all who wish to compete ."
