The leaders of the coordination framework will be held today, Monday (September 19, 2022) to discuss several matters, including the holding of the Iraqi Parliament session, according to a member of the Al-Fateh Alliance.

A member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Mahmoud Al-Hayani, said that “the coordination framework will hold a meeting on Monday evening to deliberate on the session of the Iraqi parliament and its convening, and to elect the first deputy speaker of parliament,” noting that “the choice fell on Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, to be the first deputy speaker of the Iraqi parliament, to succeed Hakim Al-Zamili.” He resigned after the Sadrist movement withdrew from parliament.

Al-Hayani pointed out that "MP Mohsen Al-Mandalawi is one of the independent representatives, and the goal of his nomination is to give them a role to be before their audience in participating in the legislative authority."

It is noteworthy that the Federal Supreme Court decided on Wednesday (September 7, 2022) to reject the case for dissolving the Iraqi parliament, submitted by more than one political party, especially from the Sadrist movement, which demands the dissolution of the current Iraqi parliament and the holding of new elections.

Member of the Al-Fateh Alliance Mahmoud Al-Hayani stressed that “there is no solution other than completing the presidency and holding the parliament session to achieve the public’s demands to dissolve parliament and re-elections,” adding that “the Federal Court made it clear that Parliament is a reason for disrupting the interests of the Iraqi people and threatening their safety and security of the country, due to the lack of Parliament sessions.

He pointed out that “Parliament is a supervisory authority, not only a legislative authority, and it has to carry out its supervisory duties in light of the high rate of corruption in ministries, official departments and in the governorates, where new corruption files are revealed daily in all state facilities, so Parliament should monitor, while The prime minister is holding the accountable.”

The coordinating framework, in a recent statement, renewed its full adherence to its candidate for prime minister, Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani, noting that "there are no early elections in Iraq until after the parliament resumes its sessions and forms the new Iraqi government."

This insistence by the coordination framework on its candidate, Muhammad Shi`a al-Sudani, may worsen the political impasse in the country further, especially since the Sadrist movement openly declared its rejection of Muhammad Shi`a al-Sudani, and staged major protests inside and outside the Green Zone, which later resulted in security clashes between “Saraya Brigades.” Peace” affiliated with the Sadrist movement, and some of the armed factions affiliated with the coordination framework under the name of the Popular Mobilization, before al-Sadr later directed the withdrawal of all protesters, even from inside the Green Zone, and to end their sit-in, which was nearly a month old.

As for the Kurdish-Sunni-Shiite delegation that is expected to meet with the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr in Najaf, Al-Hayani stated that “there is a delegation that will go to Al-Hanana consisting of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani and the delegation of the Sovereignty Alliance, which includes Khamis Al-Khanjar and Muhammad Al-Halbousi, in addition to the head of Al-Fath coalition Hadi Al-Amiri to meet Muqtada Al-Sadr,” noting that “there may be acceptance and response on the issue of resolving the political crisis, because Al-Sadr does not want Saddam or problems to happen.”

Member of the Al-Fateh Alliance, Mahmoud Al-Hayani, called on “the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement to sit down, accept and make concessions to resolve the political crisis in the country.”

It is noteworthy that the revival of the ceremonies of the fortieth anniversary of Imam Hussein contributed to calming the situation whose fire almost spread to most regions of Iraq, but the failure to satisfy the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr will lead to a weak and confused rule on the part of the coordinating framework, according to observers of political affairs.
