Khazali calls for an immediate investigation into the killing of an Iraqi woman by US forces in Baghdad
Shafaq News/ The Secretary-General of Asa'ib Ahl al-Haq, Qais al-Khazali, demanded, on Tuesday, an immediate investigation into the killing of an Iraqi woman by US forces near Baghdad airport.
Khazali said in a statement seen by Shafak News Agency, "We demand an immediate and urgent investigation into the incident of the martyrdom of the fifteen-year-old girl (Zainab Essam), who was martyred by the bullets of the American forces."
He added, "We demand the security and intelligence services to present a detailed report to the Iraqi people, explaining the repercussions of this cowardly incident, and how a military base can be present on Iraqi soil in clear violation of the Iraqi constitution, and a flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty, and how it conducts live fire under the pretext of training in residential neighborhoods." And without barriers or places designated for training, preventing fire from reaching citizens’ homes.”
Local media and news platforms close to the Iraqi factions circulated news that a girl named "Zainab Issam Majid al-Khazali" was killed by US forces' bullets in the Abu Ghraib area near Baghdad airport due to indiscriminate shooting at the US forces' shooting range.
