Al-Kazemi thanks Al-Sistani from the United Nations headquarters for "protecting" the democratic path and criticizes the Iraqi political forces
In his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Al-Kazemi said, "I am pleased to greet you in the name of Iraq, which is one of the founding countries of this organization that hosts us," adding that "there are great and difficult challenges, especially at the level of the internal political conflict, but there is, on the other hand, a spirit of hope among the people of Iraq who He has the ability to seize the opportunity for life, progress and peace."
Al-Kadhimi recalled, "The Iraqi martyrs who gave their lives in order to defend the values of freedom, justice, democracy, and human rights," and said, "During that just war, the Iraqi military forces acquired unique skills in fighting ISIS and enforcing the law, and Iraq benefited from the experiences of His allies in his fight against terrorism, we renew our thanks and appreciation to them."
He continued, "We renew the call of the Government of the Republic of Iraq to the necessity of continuing to confront the phenomenon of international terrorism and the groups supporting it," adding that "Iraq reiterates from this platform its calls not to use its territory under the pretext of combating terrorism."
The Iraqi Prime Minister extended his thanks and appreciation to "all organizations and countries, and to everyone who helped support the Iraqi elections that took place in October 2021, and he singled out the supreme religious authority, Mr. Sistani, for his protection of the democratic path in Iraq."
He explained, "Despite the success of the elections, the political forces were unable to agree on the formation of the government, which led to the creation of a political blockage. My government called for a serious and transparent dialogue for all political forces and various parties to discuss ways out of the current political crisis."
Al-Kazemi stressed that "Iraq seeks to bring views closer and find sustainable peaceful solutions to regional crises and differences between the countries of the region, by putting forward many initiatives aimed at ensuring peace and security in our region."
