Today, Monday, the head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar al-Hakim, called on neighboring countries to respect Iraq's water quotas.

Al-Hakim said in a statement, "The announcement by the Ministry of Water Resources that Iraq has entered the realm of real danger and a severe drought crisis, represents a warning bell and an imminent danger that exposes the present and future of the country economically, agriculturally, developmentally, environmentally, healthily and even demographically to danger."

He added, "In addition to requiring the adoption of all bilateral and international diplomatic methods to compel neighboring countries to respect Iraq's water quotas, it calls for a responsible stance from the executive and legislative authorities to enact laws that protect those affected by the drought crisis, especially in the central and southern governorates, and work to mitigate its devastating effects." And warning of the waves of the epidemic and the diseases resulting from them.”
