Shafaq News/ The "Extension" movement announced its refusal to attend the parliament session scheduled to be held today, Wednesday, while revealing the reasons behind it.
And she said in a statement issued in the late hour of the night, received by Shafak News Agency, that "the masses rejoiced at the early elections, which were accompanied by changes in the removal of some corrupt faces, as these elections were a price for the great sacrifices of October, but the conflicting blocs over the spoils and since the results of the elections until Today, all hope that the masses waited for change has been squandered,” noting “a whole year of conflict that paralyzed political life in the country completely, and disrupted people’s lives through the cessation of state institutions to provide their services for not approving the budget and other important tasks entrusted to it.”
She added, "The ruling political class still underestimates the capabilities of this people plagued by parties, blocs and leaders. Instead of respecting the constitutional timings, which stipulated the election of the President of the Republic thirty days after the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, this class continues to deceive the people and calls for review sessions that are not part of the political reality in the country." something".
The movement’s statement continued, “Therefore, the extension movement decided not to attend this session for the following reasons:
First: violating the constitutional deadlines, even underestimating them, and not taking into account the interests of the people in all actions and positions in the period following the elections, the last of which is setting the time for tomorrow’s session, which has nothing to do with the constitutional sessions.
Second: Assuming the legal validity of the request for the resignation of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the seriousness of the political blocs and leaders to accept his resignation, we would have been the first to vote to accept his resignation or seek to dismiss him for his failure to conduct sessions and violating the laws and rules of procedure in not holding the absent and disruptive representatives to the interests of the people and taking an individual decision to suspend the sessions of the Parliament Representatives We had previously announced our decision to collect signatures to dissolve Parliament for its failure and lack of respect for the constitution and the organizing regulations.
Third: There is no seriousness in empowering the opposition representatives to assume the presidential positions of the House of Representatives, such as the position of the Speaker and his deputies, and there is no real intention to break the outdated and false political norms. Rather, there is an insistence on repeating the failure through consensus and quotas in filling these positions.
The statement of the Extension of Emphasis movement reiterated, "We are still committed to our initiative, which is a solution to get out of the current political crisis, through the formation of an interim government whose powers will be to prepare for the upcoming elections, to put forward the draft federal budget for 2023, and for Parliament to continue for a year with legislative powers to make constitutional amendments, legislate the federal budget law, and pledge before the law." The international community will vote to dissolve parliament a year from now, and we will seriously seek to collect signatures from all deputies to be obligated to dissolve parliament on the set date.
The statement stated, "At a time when threats to the demonstrators are increasing, we direct our message to the caretaker prime minister to carry out his constitutional and moral duties by protecting the voices calling for the rights of the people, preserving the lives of the demonstrators, and confronting all those who try to violate their rights to deliver their voice, and we warn against targeting them as the ruling authority did." in October 2019".
It also announced its "position in support of all peaceful protests demanding freedom, justice and respect for the law," calling on "all political blocs to respond to the voice of the people and respect their will to carry out constitutional amendments, early elections and other legitimate demands."
