Barzani said in a speech during a memorial ceremony on the anniversary of the departure of former Iraqi President Jalal Talabani in Erbil, which was followed by Mawazine News, "We now sense the void left by Jalal Talabani, as his history is an important part of the history of the Kurdish liberation movement."
He added, "Mam Jalal for me is an important memory of peace and cooperative work, as I met him for the first time when he signed on November 8, 1986 with my father (Idris Barzani) the peace agreement between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan."
He pointed out that this "peace agreement between Mam Jalal and my father was a reason for entering into public peace in Kurdistan."
He added, "Mam Jalal and President Masoud Barzani have always united in decisions and the progress and prosperity of the Kurdistan region, due to the unification of the ranks of the political forces."
Barzani said, "Today, both the Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union need a new strategic agreement according to the current stage. After the strategic agreement that took place between the two parties, the manifestations of duplication of administration in the Kurdistan region decreased, and the foundations of the regional government were established, and justice spread."
