Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi praised Monday the high level of relations with the Kurdistan Regional Government headed by Masrour Barzani, after various turmoil and tensions in the past years, stressing the need to adhere to dialogue to resolve crises.
Al-Kazemi said in a speech he delivered during a celebration marking the 5th anniversary of the departure of President Jalal Talabani, "Today, in the midst of all this political blockage, the absence of a personality with the weight of Mam Jalal has an impact and meaning. Through it, he restores lost confidence, with narrow interests and immediate gains taking precedence over the general national interest.”
He added that "the courage of dialogue, the principle of goodwill, quiet diplomacy, and avoiding rigidity in positions were Mam Jalal's tools and the road map that he laid down to resolve crises."
Al-Kazemi indicated that "the national agreement on the basis of the deep Iraqi partnerships, and the national values that are rooted in our country, is not difficult or impossible." He continued, "Let us adhere to dialogue, dialogue and dialogue ... and nothing else. It is our only way to solve the crisis, otherwise the fire will burn everyone."
He pointed out that everyone is aware that "there is a high level of positive brotherly relations that brought together the federal government in Baghdad with the Kurdistan Regional Government during the past two years, and it is no secret that this came after various stages of turmoil and tensions that prevailed in this relationship."
Al-Kazemi said, "Access to this distinguished level of relations was not for nothing, but was a product of the principle of dialogue, offering goodwill and a calm, non-passive policy, and we must build on what has been achieved so far, in terms of strengthening the participants and resolving crises, in the spirit of brotherhood and a common destiny."
