Shafaq News/ Specialist experts criticized, on Friday, the mechanism that the Iraqi government is working on to solve the housing crisis, whether by granting loans to citizens, or through limited housing projects, while stressing the need to develop a comprehensive study to work on building housing projects according to a modern and advanced vision, It makes it easier for simple citizens and people with limited income to resort to it.
The economic researcher, Ahmed Eid, told Shafaq News Agency, "The housing crisis in Iraq is added to the great problems facing the Iraqi citizen, and what the state offers to the citizen today, does not rise to being called a solution to his problems."
Eid added, "Because the loans provided by the Real Estate Bank or within the so-called housing fund initiative, to grant interest-free loans to buy or build housing units, put the citizen or employee in great embarrassment, as a result of the consequent monthly payment of installments that exceeds his ability to pay, which It made a lot of people stop borrowing.
He continued, "The limited housing projects in force in Iraq did not benefit the simple citizen or those with limited income, but the beneficiaries are the influential and the owners of capital, or those who have income and a high financial return."
The economic researcher stressed, “Iraq today needs two million housing units to reach the point of equal housing opportunities and the elimination of slums. limited recourse.”
