Today, Friday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stressed that Tehran will not tolerate the continuation of "aggression and terrorist acts" by groups stationed in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
According to a report by the " Iran Front Page " newspaper, "The Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, held, during a phone call, consultations with his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, on the latest developments in bilateral relations, regional affairs and talks to lift sanctions."
The report added, “Al-Lahyan spoke about the movements of groups in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, describing them as “terrorists,” stressing that “after four decades and despite repeated promises by the region’s officials, armed terrorist cells unfortunately still threaten security in Iranian territory.”
The Iranian foreign minister stressed that he "emphasizes respect and commitment to expanding excellent relations with Iraq."
Al-Lahyan also thanked the Iraqi Foreign Minister and the Iraqi Prime Minister for their "efforts to secure the freedom of the Iranian pilgrim detained in Saudi Arabia."
