    On Sunday (9/10/2022), Mrs. Amal Jalal, President of the Tourism Authority of the Kurdistan Region, received Mr. Bakhtiar Haji Hamad, Director General of Relations and Follow-up Affairs at the Kurdistan Region Representation in Baghdad.

    During the meeting, which was attended by a number of general managers of the authority, they discussed how to strengthen relations between the Iraqi tourism authorities and the Kurdistan Region, in order to develop the tourism sector and establish joint activities to introduce the tourism movement and market the Kurdistan Region as a tourist destination in the country.

    The head of the Tourism Authority in the Kurdistan Region spoke about the importance and necessity of building close relations with tourism companies in the central and southern governorates for the purpose of developing joint tourism plans and programs and introducing Iraqi tourists to the crimes that the people of Kurdistan were subjected to by organizing visits to museums, monuments and memorials for the Anfal crimes and the chemical bombing of Halabja and other areas from the Kurdistan Region.

    For his part, Mr. Bakhtiar Haji announced the readiness of the Kurdistan Regional Representative in Baghdad to work on building and organizing relations and coordination between the tourism authorities in the Kurdistan Region and the federal government, as well as tourism companies in the central and southern governorates of Iraq.

    It was also decided during the meeting that a delegation from the Tourism Authority in the Kurdistan Region will visit Baghdad soon to discuss and discuss future joint work plans with officials of the Iraqi Tourism Authority and directors of tourism companies and how to enhance bilateral relations to develop and develop the tourism sector in the country.
