A year after the October elections, the blockage continues with the absence of a budget

A year after the holding of early elections in the country based on the popular demand of the October 2019 uprising, which was planned by the blood of the martyrs from the best young people to realize the dreams and aspirations of citizens for a decent living, Iraq is still without a government or budget.
The political blockage after (October)
The political process in Iraq is witnessing, after every democratic process (elections), a round of negotiations to agree on the three presidencies and the formation of a government (quotas) that satisfies the political blocs according to the constitutional obligations (according to the parties), but the post-October uprising was different, as the political process witnessed a blockage Chronic and intersection of interests, which resulted in withdrawals and disruption of the House of Representatives and a caretaker government that does not have the powers to approve the federal budget.
While the political arena witnessed intersections within Shiite, Sunni and Kurdish homes, they cast a shadow over Iraq and obstructed the formation of a new government that would meet the aspirations and demands of (October).
These intersections prompted the Sadrist movement to withdraw from the political process and their leader Muqtada al-Sadr’s commitment to “political silence” to bring his audience to the street to demand the dissolution of Parliament and the holding of early elections, while the coordinating framework also prompted its audience to demand the continuation of the political process and the formation of a new government. The insistence of the two parties led to the intensification of the conflict and the transfer of the battle from media statements to armed confrontations that led to the fall of martyrs and wounded on both sides.
Street war and green events
On (August 30, 2022), the Green Zone in the center of the capital, Baghdad, witnessed violent clashes between Al-Sadr's followers and security forces inside the region, which resulted in the death of at least 30 people and the injury of about 600 on both sides.
While the (October) protesters commemorated the third anniversary of the uprising on October 1, 2022, by renewing their demands, to end the demonstrations quickly, recording the injury of about 50 protesters, amid assurances to return again to the sit-in squares on the 25th of October.
Here, the UN Security Council entered the line of the Iraqi crisis by holding an emergency session on the recent events on October 4, 2022, during which the UN envoy, Jeanine Plasschaert, gave a briefing, in which she confirmed that “differences prevail over the language of dialogue in the country, and that Iraq is witnessing armed skirmishes.” The political class is unable to resolve the crisis.”
Plasschaert briefing rose chest
And Blackshart pointed out that "the political system and the system of governance in Iraq ignore the needs of the Iraqi people, and that rampant corruption represents a major root cause of dysfunction in Iraq, and no leader can claim that he is protected from it, and that keeping the system as it is will rebound with negative results."
This briefing took al-Sadr out of his (political silence) to confirm the correctness of what he stated in a tweet followed by (Al-Mada), in which he stated, “Yes, this is very true and accurate, and the first step for gradual reform is the non-participation of the old faces and their parties in the next government according to the aspirations of the reference and the rebellious people.” Again his support for the conditional dialogue.
After the international calls for dialogue, the parliament quickly convened after a months-long disruption with a session of the people’s representatives that was behind the fortified walls and in isolation from the protesters’ voices that rose at the green gates to reject what was happening inside the parliament’s dome.
A year after the elections
Accelerated steps taken by the coordination framework to “gather” the political process, and to proceed with the formation of the government, independent of the Sadrist movement, and the nomination of Muhammad Shia’ al-Sudani for the position of prime minister, amid calls for holding a session to elect the president of the republic and proceed with the constitutional procedures, to turn Iraq into a year of elections without a fully-fledged government or balancing.
The President of the Republic, Barham Salih, said in a statement received by (Al-Mada) on this occasion: “A year has passed since the elections without completing their constitutional entitlements, a harsh reminder of what we missed from the lost opportunities for our country, and an important incentive for close ranks and inclusive national dialogue, the basis and end of which is the interest of the country and citizens and the fulfillment of their right to life. Gracious freedom.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, in a statement received by (Al-Mada) on this occasion, renewed his call for “political parties and forces to resort to the logic of dialogue to resolve the political crisis,” noting that “resorting to the polls must be linked to the belief of all participating forces in democratic principles,” stressing that "The early elections came in response to the demands of our people."
A year after the early elections, political observers believe that "Iraq is on the brink of a political, economic and social pit, which may push the country to collapse at various levels."
